  18. VirusZ  is  still  the  classic antivirus software for Amiga computers, even
  19. though development was down for over 2 years.  Now I'm trying to finally add
  20. the missing features step by step (see history below).

  22. This archive no longer contains any of the required libraries, so please get
  23. them from Aminet (locations are mentioned in the header of this textfile).
  24.  
  25. To  ensure  that you have downloaded an original version of VirusZ and not a
  26. fake, you can use my PGP key (attached to the VirusZ.doc file) together with
  27. the  signatures  included  in  the  archive  for verification.  You can also
  28. download a 100% safe copy of my PGP key from the following homepages:

  33. Additionally,  you should compare the file size of your VirusZ copy with the
  34. one displayed in the programs 'Technical Info' information.  They MUST match
  35. if you didn't have crunched VirusZ yourself.

  50.  TODO  Until final release version 1.00:
  51.     - Implement file and sector scanning inside all types of disk- and
  52.       filearchives that xadmaster.library supports.
  53.     - Add device-based sector scanning.
  54.     - Add useful commands to ARexx port.

  56.  0.9a  Changes/Additions since 0.99:
  57.     - Totally redesigned the file check. Now all selected files/dirs are
  58.       always scanned without user interaction (exception: encoded files)
  59.       and just the important results get listed. These can be reviewed
  60.       at any time to finally decide what to do with malicious files.
  61.       The new concept has the following advantages:
  62.       (a) it's much faster (my SYS: partition gets scanned in 2:16 min,
  63.           the old scanner needed 9:20 min; that's over 4 times faster!);
  64.       (b) the Job Monitor (that's the name of the new check-window) is
  65.           fully prepared for archive and sector checking, all this will
  66.           happen in just one window (NOT IMPLEMENTED YET);
  67.       (c) less information that's not interesting for the average user,
  68.           just important things get reported now (if you want to analyse
  69.           the files on your harddisk, just use a tool like CheckX!);
  70.       (d) even disinfects damaged or encoded files as far as possible;
  71.       (e) looks much better :-)
